This body of work was inspired from reminiscing about stories told by my grandmother about her travels across Mexico and Texas to visit family. In Mexico, buses make up over half of travels done by road. In our current political climate, with the president’s constant threat of closing the Mexico/U.S. border, I find it crucial to express the importance of these roads that serve to connect us. Travel makes it possible to connect cultures that have been intertwined for hundreds of years by reducing the gap between families and places. My goal with this body of work is to share with the viewer the need for connecting individuals and places that promotes movement for a multicultural and vibrant community.
